News:  Kanye West

Kanye’s Monster Video Crawls Out From Under The Bed

By Johnny Firecloud

What’s clearly an unfinished version of Kanye West‘s Monster video has begun making the rounds (notice the overall darkness and “Getty Images” logo shown about halfway through), but it’s interesting/entertaining/disturbed enough to warrant a sneak preview before the final cut’s delivered.

In between shots of zombies playing hopscotch, vampires dining on their prey and Jay-Z dropping rhymes in dapper mode with a busty dead chick behind him on the couch, our beloved egomonster can be seen ranting to the hordes of desperate models outside his window, struggling to get in. Something also keeps bringing my back to the bed scene early in the vid, where Kanye’s arranging the two models’ arms and positioning them in affectionate poses before turning to face the camera on the beat.

Nicki Minaj’s highlight verse is accented by her S&M dungeon goddess outfit, straddling & lapdancing on a hooded version of herself, before Wolverine’s wife closes things out with a fireside dance. I think most would’ve preferred if little pink Nicki’s head would’ve been ripped off in the whole grind/torture scene, but we’ll take it as-is.

Our pick for Album of the Year is still running strong, and we’re looking forward to seeing how these songs are brought to life, whether through video or performance. Hate him all you want, but Kanye sure as hell knows how to keep people talking.

I honestly had no interest in listening to this album anytime soon…that is until I saw this shit.

Is that Kate Moss at the end?

    This video was confusing/fun!

  3. Loved it. And goddamn that Nicki Minaj verse, man… mindblowing. This album gets better each time you listen to it.

Not a Kanye fan at all, but that was pretty cool.
