News: Wanda Jackson
Jack White & Wanda Jackson Unleash Thunder On The Mountain
Maybe it’s because I just watched Michael J. Fox shred Johnny B. Goode at the end of Back To The Future, or the simple fact that Jack White can’t fire off a dud to save his life, but this collaboration track with Wanda Jackson is kicking some serious ass tonight.
The First Lady of Rockabilly enlisted White’s production and label assistance for The Party Ain’t Over, which Third Man Records will release on January 25th. November 23rd saw the release of a 7″ single featuring covers of Hank Williams and Bob Dylan by the duo, the latter being a live staple called Thunder on the Mountain, off Dylan’s 2006 album Modern Times.
Have a listen, thanks to CoverMeSongs:
Along with Jackson and White, other players on The Party Ain’t Over include Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather/The Raconteurs), Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket), Patrick Keeler (The Raconteurs), Ashley Monroe, Jackson Smith and Karen Elson.
P.S. You can hear the opening track, a hot cover of Johnny Kidd & The Pirates’ Shakin’ All Over, over at TwentyFourBit.
Buy the vinyl single at Third Man Records.

solid cover, i never imagined a woman pulling off latter day dylan that will.. Consider this and the fireball that was the big river track I’d say Jack is itching to start ripping out some solos again
That was bad ass…
Sounds great! I love it.
That kicked my ass all over the place. Now I need to hear the rest
Sweet, baby
