Diane Birch Adds A Little Color To Pasty Classics

By Skwerl

Here’s a little something something. Diane Birch has released an interesting little EP of cover songs, on which she’s put a unique spin on seven classic gothic rock / 80s pop songs.

The Velveteen Age, credited to “Diane Birch With The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band,” breathes a new sort of energy into The Sisters Of Mercy’s This Corrosion, Siouxsie & The Banshees’ Kiss Them For Me, Echo & The Bunnymen’s Bring On The Dancing Horses, Joy Division’s Atmosphere, The Cure’s Primary, This Mortal Coil’s Tarantula, and Peter Murphy’s A Strange Kind Of Love.

You can listen to the whole album on Diane’s official YouTube channel, and here’s the lead-off track, for a taste:

If you’re down for an impulse buy like I was last night, you can pick up The Velveteen Age for $5 on iTunes.
