News: Arcade Fire
Arcade Fire Rock Well At SNL, Yell At The UN
It was a rare night of triumph for Saturday Night Live yesterday, as the laughs outweighed the crickets for the first time in many weeks thanks to three-time host Scarlett Johansson and Arcade Fire, returning for a second appearance as musical guest.
We could go on about how Scarlett was a trooper, appearing in damn near every skit on the 90-minute show, but we’re not a TV site or a celeb-stalker site, no matter what Taylor Momsen or Hayley Williams tells you. We’re here for the spicy-hot jams, so check out Arcade Fire’s first performance, a stirring rendition of We Used To Wait:
The night’s Digital Short also utilized the band, this time to produce another whack-ass music video with Andy Samberg that bordered on entertaining. When Samberg’s model UN team gets invited to give a presentation on world history to the General Assembly, they instead launch into a rap about all the world’s atrocities against humanity. Ever the activists, Arcade Fire storms the UN to help out, resulting in a shirt-ripping New World dance party – all being broadcast on MSNBC.
Also check out their performance of Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) from their fantastic new album, The Suburbs.
If you’re really hooked into the Arcade Fire video world now, check out their cool little interactive hometown video for We Used To Wait.

That show was painful.
What the hell happened to Scarlett Johansson’s face and tits?
The most meaningful line was her last line on the final skit:
“Get gotta get yaself a ceramic bust.”
I hate fake tits, but…. it was just so ironic, awkward and hilarious.
sorry… that’s “ya gotta get yaself…”
I was hoping for instrument destorying like in the good ole days but it was still sick.
Yeah Scarlett seems fundamentally changed somehow, can’t quite put my finger on it, maybe lost some serious weight? Plastic Surgery? Whatever it is just looks wrong. Kinda like Jenna Jameson-post-surgery-wrong.
Arcade Fire were definitely impressive.
That Digital short made me chuckle.
Scarlett shit is still ridiculously hot…I prefer the way she looked when Lost In Translation came out…but she’s still a babe!
Beyond that…that was kind of a boring performance.
Regine was way off during Sprawl II. It sounded like she couldn’t hear her own voice.
