Karen O Gets Dumb & Tough, Jackass Style

While we haven’t heard much in the way of new music from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ since their great 2009 LP It’s Blitz, we just learned through Some Kind of Awesome that the band’s eccentric frontwoman, Karen O, has just dropped a new solo track.

Entitled If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough, the song was originally written by (relatively unknown) singer-songwriter Roger Allen Wade, and is set to appear on the soundtrack for the movie Jackass 3-D. Listen here:

Appropriately enough, Roger Allan Wade is the cousin of Jackass-creator Johnny Knoxville, and releases music through the latter’s label, so it’s easy to spot the plug here. But still, the track is good, and it’s very nice to see Karen O’s voice fitting so well into a country jam. Here’s the original, as well as the full tracklist for the soundtrack:
