News: The Black Keys
The Black Keys Give Halloween Costume Tips
The Black Keys have learned a great way to make the Internet work in their favor. When they released their 6th LPĀ Brothers in May, one could assume that the excellence of the album would provide itself all the word-of-mouth publicity it needed – but the band went further.
First, they released a pretty cool video that stayed true to the artwork style they adopted for the album and its singles. Then they released this infinitely better video that we forgot to tell you about at the time, but became a pretty major hit anyway. But now, they came up with something a bit more unusual.
Just in time for Halloween season, the Black Keys merch store is offering a dress-up kit that will let you “look like” each of the band’s members: a big, bushy beard resembling the one sported by guitarist Dan Auerbach; and a pair of glasses that look like those used by Patrick Carney. The getups won’t win any costume contests (as made implicit by the description at the store), but for just 20 bucks, it’s not a bad little goofball offer.
In other news, The Black Keys have finally been certified of their coolness by MTV – that network made famous for broadcasting hit-show Jersey Shore. The excellent video for Tighten Up won the “Breakthrough Video” award at the VMAs, and the corresponding Moonman Trophy came to the band with a special surprise:
Yup, they’re so cool, they’re getting mistaken with extremely popular bands whose names hardly resemble the Keys’ at all. Either that, or they just printed a bunch of plaques with the Black Eyed Peas’ name in 2005 and figured they’d still be useful 5 years later.

Wow, thats terrible getting a Black Eyed Peas trophy. There’s like 10 words on it. Is it really that hard to proof-read that shit?
Hmmmm, perhaps it’s time to second think being Antoinne Dobson for Halloween.
Fernando…you’re a funny guy!
