News:  My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance Embark On Danger Days

By Ryan Magner

My Chemical Romance are creeping back into the music scene after the 2006 release of their highly theatrical album, The Black Parade, followed up by their biggest headlining tour to date. They return with a lyric video, one of the more elaborate ones out these days, for their new track Na na na.

But what is much better than this word-association madness is this promo video for their new album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, also accompanied by their new track Na na na. This movie trailer of sorts is slightly more promising than the lyric video. The new single comes off kind of weak on its own, but married with this imagery the song feels more complete.

The Black Parade is apparently long dead, and in its place we have The Fabulous Killjoys: A plethora of neon colored costumes, masks and those Nintendo Duck Hunt laser guns put together to look like a ten-year-old’s imagining of a post-apocalyptic future. On the My Chemical Romance website is an image of a newspaper called “Battery City Times” with the cover story reading, “Wanted: The Killjoys.” MCR appear to be keeping in the vein of the high-concept rock opera, as was such with The Black Parade.

A series of music videos featuring the members of MCR as this new cast of characters is to be expected in the future.

Weird little tune, guess we’ll have to see what the rest of the album sound like.

  2. Patrick Herring says:

Was never really a fan of MCR but I know they have talent which is something almost every other band in their genre lacked. I don’t think that this song is all that great but it is a step in the right direction for them.

I like this. It’s weird, because it’s the sort of thing I’d have thought I’d dislike, since it’s pretty different to previous My Chemical Romance material, but it works, and it does still feel like the same band.

Shame the tickets for the shows over here in the UK sold out so fast.

though nothing’s new under the sun, one’s gotta respect the creativity these guys put in reimagining themselves and stay ahead of the rest of the ‘emo’ bands (or whatever their genre is called nowadays)…
Song’s ‘meh’ but I’m sure in the context of the album it’ll turn out alright…such as many songs in ‘the black parade’….

    This band is irrelevant.

  6. Cory Hatton says:

    all concept, no talent!
