News: Glassjaw
Glassjaw Lives
As to not let a smidgen of dust settle on the rumor mill, Long Island’s Glassjaw have recently released a few badass live videos for mass consumption. The most recent is a re-imagining of the ancient song Stars Above My Bed:
This was preceded by an awesome rendition of the fairly new track You Think You’re (John Fucking Lennon), which you can find here on Vimeo.
While there has been no official word from the band as to whether or not there will be a full length or EP release anytime soon, they have let loose vinyl singles for Jesus Glue and All Good Junkies Go To Heaven that have sold like marijuana filled hotcakes.
If you need a fix now you can take a listen to this halfway decent bootleg of their last US performance at Emo’s in Austin, TX (that was damn amazing, mind you) that features all their latest songs, plus a few that are otherwise completely unreleased.

if albums are used to promote concerts and sell tshirts yet albums are free one way or another…. then why not just release songs directly to youtube and forget the album (or singles) entirely
I’m definitely not in the camp that thinks the album is dead, that’s what gets me into a band in the first place. Even an EP, just something more than a single song with some flow or at least some form of cohesion that defines the band in some way or solidifies them in some time. Not that I don’t support the release of single songs to places like youtube, some songs just don’t fit in the album scheme. I wish bands would do both more often!
