This morning, Janelle Monáe (one of our favorite discoveries of this year) debuted a video for her newest single, Cold War.

Hate to be so cynical, but the concept is of course disappointingly identical to the famous Sinéad O’Connor video everyone has seen for Nothing Compares 2 U. Just the artist, staring down a camera, baring her soul. The big difference, however, is the fact that Monáe actually wrote the song she’s getting all worked up over. And it’s a fine one, from a spectacular album you should check out if you haven’t. Check out our in-depth review here.
