World renowned Aussie radio station Triple J recently premiered a new track from Killers frontman Brandon Flowers‘ solo album Flamingo, and we thought we’d share, if only to hear the sound of a man in magic underpants crooning like a gay Bruce Springsteen.

Have a listen to the latest leak, Was It Something I Said, below:

UPDATE:You can now also listen to another track entitled Magdalena, courtesy of our man Rocko over at SomeKindofAwesome:

Some Kind Of Awesome also tracked down a nice little bonus for you – an acoustic version of Flamingo’s lead single Crossfire, which Flowers performed for Mix 94.1 Underground Lounge. Definitely worth a listen.

  • Steve Keyes says:

He prefaced this song at the Troubadour by saying something to the effect of “this song used to sound a lot different, and it was better, but no one besides me and the band liked it. So heres’s this version. It’s fun to play… I guess”

  • Pupo says:

“Me & Valentino”….couldn’t hear anything else….My ears are bleeding. PLEASE, take this shit out of Antiquiet!

  • I know that you post those kind of music on your site just because you can as you run that place but what is the point, it is much worse than bands you’re slagging here like Buckcherry – and even they have real deal musicians, who can play fuckin’ instrument very well and their latest CD is better than anything Brandon did.

    • The point is that a solid cross-section of our readers listen to the Killers, as opposed to venereal crotch-rocking scumbags trying to recapture the ’80s era on Sunset Strip. I’d listen to this on blast any day over Buckcherry because there’s no heart whatsoever in their music. Flowers may be a glittery falsetto rider, and he won’t get a dime of my money, but he’s got some soul in him. That’s hard currency around here.

I sincerely appreciate your admission of fandom for Buckcherry. You’ve now been placed in the “really, really bad taste” bin. Enjoy your stay.

  • Vito says:

I’d take the catchiness of a cheesy pop song like this over the lunkheaded idiocy of Buckcherry any day.

  • Where I stated that I am fan, I’d take first two The Killers albums over any Buckcherry song. And yes they’re posers, but 3rd The Killers album and anything this guy made so far solo is shitty pop. Buckcherry is a band of posers – YES, but they can play fuckin’ instrument they play rock n’ roll cos’ they love it no matter how shitty their music is but they stick to what they love. I don’t like their music but respect them for this reason alone, and Brandon is like a flag he is doing whatever is fashionable and whatever will sell better.

You’re very quick to point a finger and pull a trigger just because one has different opinion. You pretend to know your shit about music but your review of Ozzy’s “Scream” was clueless as you were writing how Gus G replacing Zakk was influential to album vitality etc without checking out that Gus G had NO artistic input into album, as “Scream” had been written in eternity months before he joined to them, he just played parts he was asked to. Thumbs up for You !!

    • “Just because one has a different opinion”? Kid, get your head out of your ass. If Zakk had played on the album it would’ve sounded like Zakk playing. Regardless of what was written by who (Zakk did none of the writing on Scream), the energy, tone and delivery stand out as a departure from what we’ve heard. That’s certainly impacted by Gus. Now go back to listening to your favorite posers and whining about your own misinterpretations of a review from three goddamned months ago. You still make no sense.

  • WTF ? What is different in Scream is the new artistic direction towards some Black Sabbathesque riffs and slow tempos and that energy is not about Gus G. He himself said that he just went to L.A played parts he was asked to play as whole album had been already done. And speaking of Gus and how he is different – on first listen everybody would mistake him with Zakk he has very similar way of playing even using Zakk Wylde alike pinch harmonic. And still he isn’t reason for sound of “Scream” but guys who came up with those riffs ( possibly Zakk as he has recorded all parts for this album and Kevin Churko) So get a clue old man.
Yeah you are good at twisting what I said about Buckcherry ( and point was that I prefer guys who can play fuckin’ instruments over some stupid, heartless pro-tools “masterpieces” ) new Rushdie, maybe some should also put a price on your head and then maybe you will go into hiding.

    • Ha… well haven’t we just taken a leap into alarmingly creepy troll range. No sense moving forward with your absurd comment that Zakk recorded “all parts for this album,” because he had nothing to do with it after the very, very beginning. Fuck you and your indirect threats. Arguing musical points is one thing – personal threats to people with families are another. Conversation over.

    • Rory says:

Why don’t you rejoin this conversation when you’ve had 10 more years to discover music. When I was 16 it was all about Ozzy…and then I grew up and gained a taste for music that isn’t boring.

      • ZeagleFiend says:

Well…I have to say that I don’t like this at all – and nor do I like any that the Killers have ever done – but well done Johnny for dealing with that narrow minded guy. I particularly liked the bit about ‘playing fuckin’ instruments’. I suppose Massive Attack (for instance) never do that. Ergo, they suck. Oh wait, no, they’re awesome.

Oh, BTW. Johnny, d’you reckon I could steal your Neil Fallon quote(ation) about the music industry being ’set up to rip off hillbillies etc’ for an article? I’d credit antiquiet for the interview…

  • Rory says:

The bass sounds like samples from Guitar Pro.

  • Jen Trainor says:

Thanks for sharing what is quite possibly the worst of the album. Sorry peeps, I am a fan overall, so I just have to ask not to judge by this. There’s something better. Go ahead annihilate me. I can take it.
