Bush, the Gavin Rossdale fronted act that gained notoriety in the 90s and helped strain grunge’s welcome well into the ’00s, is officially back, with a new song called Afterlife.

The song came a few minutes ago via KROQ’s Ted Stryker, who had Gavin on the show to officially announce the reunion.

Rumors have it that a tour is planned for September, and we can expect a new album in October. More info as it pops up.

  • Well this is kind of unexpected. Gavin’s last album was OK… this song isn’t particularly fantastic or anything. I’d probably go see Bush live though.

  • Wow, why is this song even worse than Gavin’s solo work?

  • [...] in mass quantities of hair? OK good. Wanna make sure we’re on the same page. ANYWAYS, Antiquiet is currently streaming the brand-new song from Gavin Rossdale and crew called [...]

  • Wow, it’s like Three Days Grace hooked a tube up to Orgy’s ass and sucked the shit right out of it.

  • [...] Kiss, Rise Against,  a reunited Bush (who also debuted a new song today, which you listen to at this location) and as we broke to the masses Suicidal [...]

Ugh…I am really getting tired of these 1990s alt-rock bands trying to pretend they’re doing us all a big fucking favor by getting back together to cut some tracks and play a few festivals. Seeing bands like Bush and Soundgarden and RATM get back together to ride this phony indie-rock gravy train makes me understand why Trent Reznor decided to stop touring as Nine Inch Nails.

  • Steve Keyes says:

I like Bush and all, but this is all very very meh.

  • Orsino says:

Never really cared much for Bush, but I absolutely loved the Institute album he did a few years back

  • This is nothing like the Bush I remember.

  • This is such good news. Love the track. Can’t wait for the album.

  • Joe says:

Well, if this doesn’t confirm how “meh” Bush were in the first place…I don’t know what does.

  • Bill Fucking Murray says:

    Dear AntiQuiet,

Why do you give even the most remote of fucks about Bush?……..hmmm?…….Why?

  • Kevin Lee says:

    Uh, that was rough.

  • Rory says:

    Zzzzzzzzzzzz

  • José De la Rosé says:

I can’t lie, I did not listen to the song. Not a single second of it. But I know it’s gay. I just fucking KNOW it.

  • Pupo says:

for fox ache, somebody tell that Gavin to fold it once and for all…!! dude has never made anything remotely interesting, with or without bush…
‘why don’t you let it go’ indeed…

  • CHUJ says:

Bush have always been a poor man’s Nirvana (not that I like Nirvana). But yeah this song is horrid. Interpol + U2 + Dead…..=this shit,.

  • ken says:

you guys who dont like the track whatever its ur opinion. but what are u douchebags who dont even like bush doing on this page? Are you tasteless and stupid?? Probably best rock news of the year! Bush rocks u ppl who wont go see them probably only cause u cant afford it and are probably unemployed. Anyway great track great news high five to all bush fans this track was a good birthday surprise for me. Guys like Jose can go suck a fat one i know he is secretly gay and afraid to come out cause what the other mexicans will do to him. He is jealous bush would never go to mexico. Hope to see some comments from some ppl who have a ear for talent and good tastefull music.

  • Bill Fucking Murray says:

why do guys who defend the shittiest music available, for example Bush, Nickelback, Staind, Creed bla bla bla…..y’know…music for wal-mart trolls, sound literally exactly like ken up there. and on top of it all, seem to take any criticism about said mediocre horse-shit really really personally?

    • Skwerl says:

wait, who is “you guys?” we think this song sucks. i’ve been laughing at ken’s comment up there ever since i read the illiterate retarded fucking thing, especially at the part where he calls joe a mexican.

  • Zack says:

I actually think this song is ok. It has more substance than most of the newer, disposable “rock” bands that are out there right now.

  • Bill Fucking Murray says:

i didn’t say “you guys”, i just said “guys” in general, guys like ken. also, ken likes guys.

  • Andi says:

Oh no the song ist not good. the old bush stuff was great but this? hope the album will be better.

  • James says:

    This is terrible.

  • Rich says:

jpnyc – sorry bud but you cant put Bush in the same sentence as Soundgarden and RATM…these two bands will always be remembered for a string a great albums, but Bush was a one hit wonder…having said that, i did smoke a joint with Gavin backstage when they toured NZ in the mid 90s…nice guys but average tunes.

  • nameless says:

boring and forgettable. but i gave up the hope many years ago, that they will ever make an album as creative and atmospheric as razorblade again – so: meh

  • ratchman5000 says:

I had so many good times while listening to bush!! my brother got kicked in the head by a crowd surfer at a show in pheonix AZ and got knocked the f**k out! we were trippin hard too!! I’d go see them if you were to take the band from when they were together before, put them in a time machine and have a concert. mainly because i don’t think they can reproduce the sound they once had. not because of thier musical ability, but because these are different times and everything changes with time… peace.

  • Rich says:

I think this is awesome!!!! Bush is still a great alternative/grunge rock band. And what kind of shit do you hatters listen too… 3OH!3, Ke$ha, scremo shit? If your not going to be supportive of them dont down them. I’m sure you guys have the best music tast ever! fucking hatters.

  • Cody says:

Wow… I used to like these guys. Razorblade Suitcase and Sixteen Stone are two of my favorite CD’s, and I was pretty damned excited to hear about a reunion. That feeling lasted about 20 seconds into the song, and that’s being generous. This song is awful, and I sincerely hope the rest of the album doesn’t sound like rubbish.

  • mark says:

it’s actually better than expected. i don’t mind it as background music but its too repetitive and mellow to turn on when you’re wanting to hear something good.. i think they should have stopped after razorblade. i will still download the album and listen to the full thing. but chances of buying it are slim and the chances of it being deleted the same day are high.

  • Danny says:

I loved bush throughout the late 90’s, but they just never have recaptured the magic of 16 Stone or RBSC. 16 Stone sucked me in with the simplistic heavy tones of Everything Zen, and the incredible orchestrated textures of songs like Glycerine and Alien. Then RBSC came along… It took me a while to truly appreciate RBSC as a great album. However, it’s sonic textures combined with buzzing guitars of Greedy Fly, atmospheric sounds in Cold Contagious, and simplistic guitar work in Bone Driven, Straight No Chaser, and Distant Voices combined with Steve Albini’s production and engineering work finally captured me over time. However, they left the simple heavy sounds of those two aforementioned albums in lieu of lighter electronic sounds in TSOT (I think the remix album Deconstructed had alot to do with this decision). However, TSOT still had some heavy tones in songs like Prizefighter, but overall it had lost the simplicity that they had captured with 16 Stone and RBSC. Then Golden State was where they really lost me. I have rarely listened to Golden State. This new song, has forced me to lose all hope. Even the album titles “TSOT”, “Golden State”, and “Everything Always Now” lost the creativity and mystique that the titles 16 Stone and Razorblade Suitcase embodied. The glory years are over, and I have accepted that. I doubt I’ll purchase the album, nor even see them on tour. I’d love to see them on tour just for nostalgia, but without Dave Parsons and most importantantly Nigel Pulsford…it just won’t be the same as it was way back in ‘95. Sorry Bush, but you lost the creativity long ago.

  • Gene Miller says:

A poster above said it and I agree, “boring and forgettable”. But when was anything Bush did anything more than candy?

On another note, this might be a good tune to jog to?

  • Love all of Bush, personally – even the less-than-stellar Wanderlust Gavin did solo. The often-forgotten Golden State album was one of my favorite thanks to the song “Out of this World.” That said, this new single is extremely exciting for me. True, it’s nothing like the work they did in the 90’s; it’s more akin to aforementioned Wanderlust and Golden State. But as a person who listens to 3OH!3 and Ke$ha and a million other different artists across a thousand different genres, I can appreciate this song as good music, regardless of the fact that Bush has since evolved from Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase. Sure, the band’s sound has changed, but it’s still them making the music – good music – and that’s what matters most. :-)

  • tjcbull says:

One of those songs you have to listen to a few times I think. Definitely nowhere near the quality of their older stuff, but it definitely does grow on you.

  • Danny says:

For those who have mentioned “Wanderlust”… That was not Bush. that was all Gavin. It was more of a personal solo album designed to be softer than what you’d expect to from Bush. I think it had a couple of good songs that I could really relate to. However, when I hear a Bush record, I expect to hear grinding guitars, stop start rhythms, and Nigel’s subtle nuances like pick scrapes, volume swells, harmonics, and random off key notes. However, 16 Stone was 16 years ago…times change and people get older. I will be curious to hear the rest of the album, just to hear if there is one song on there that contains some of the old formula.

I was happy to hear that Bush are back together as i have always been a fan! This track is nothing special, but its a decent track…and to those saying it doesn’t sound like the Bush they remember…i say this….Bush will never top Sixteen Stone…it was their best album and one of my all time fave albums! But this new song is not bad! I’m glad to see them making music again!

  • I love old Bush to death, but I actually think this is really good! :D
