Stone Temple Pilots Take A Load Off

Stone Temple Pilots have added a little more promise to their upcoming self-titled return album with Take A Load Off, the latest new track to surface.
Branching away from the Nirvana riffage, the song is a bit repetitive but features a verse with gravity, a promising chorus and a high-sunshine bridge. Admittedly, it’s not within the ballpark of innovative or even remotely creatively new, and it sounds a little more instrumentally like Blind Melon than the STP we remember. Nevertheless, the arrangement is pleasant enough not to kick our cynicism into fifth gear for the new album, which drops on May 25.
Guess we’ll see.
