The Roots & Ice Cube In The City Of Compton
For the most part, following musicians on Twitter brings nothing but disheartening drivel. Or an endless stream of self-congratulatory re-tweets, and yes I’m talking about you, Sebastian Bach. Questlove from The Roots, on the other hand, keeps it real (yes, Philly real), and is constantly dropping tunes and science on his 1.3 million satisfied followers including us.
Yesterday he posted a recording we probably wouldn’t have ever heard if not for his thoughtfulness; A pre-show warm-up performance (The Roots are Jimmy Fallon’s house band if you live under a bridge) of NWA’s Straight Outta Compton featuring Ice Cube himself (with Black Thought and Captain Kirk handling MC Ren and Eazy-E’s verses, respectively).
