At this point, OK Go is officially the crazy video band. They put themselves on the map with that YouTube smash hit clever treadmill video for Here It Goes Again, and repeated the trick to get back into blog headlines around the world with the first of two clever videos for This Too Shall Pass, despite Capitol Records preventing people from embedding the YouTube version.
They promised to do it all over again, and set up a big internet world premiere for the new clip for This Too Shall Pass yesterday. While we doubted the hype at first… They’ve succeeded in delivering their most “ridonkeykong” video yet, with the help of some fiendishly crafty fuckers at Syyn Labs.
Doesn’t seem to be any smoke and mirrors involved, either. The “machine” featured in the video apparently took months to construct, a process documented here, here, here and here.
Say what you want about the music (as we did here), but what a crazy fucking video.

Coolest goddamn video ever.
Fun and imaginative. Kept my attention. Something music videos rarely do anymore. Kudos to these guys.
Insanely cool video. I especially like the dropping piano. Song’s ok….
The weaker the music, the more attention that better be paid to the video. This ratio seems about right.
Waah.
Watched this with my jaw dropped all the way to the fucking floor. Wow, I didn’t even begin to care about the music itself, so I guess it’s a failure on their part, but hey, who gives a shit?
Waah.
Haaw.
Totally fantastic. Music is okay, but video is amazing.
Amazing video…if the only reason this band exists is to continue making videos like this….then I hope they go on for a long time.
Music comfort food. Catchy but in now way shape or form breaking new boundaries. Thats what I think when I think about Ok Go. Their videos though are more then enough reason to keep em around.
that must have been a bitch to dry-run over and over again till it was ready for film.
!_!
