News: Thom Yorke
Thom Yorke Jams New Atoms In Your Ear
Radiohead/Atoms For Peace frontman Thom Yorke pulled a fast one last night with an appearance at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in – you guessed it – Cambridge, England. The 19-song “low key solo thing” was to benefit Green Party member Tony Juniper.
A slow, piano-driven falsetto ballad called The Daily Mail was among three new songs played, dedicated to “the open-minded, liberal people of this country” (as if any of his music is for anyone else). Following was Give Up The Ghost, a delicate acoustic track with instant gravity that featured a loop of Yorke pleading “don’t hold me”- ConsequenceOfSound nailed it when they called Mouse Dog Bird Neil Young-esque.
These tracks could very well find themselves on the inevitably forthcoming Atoms For Peace record, a new group featuring Yorke, RHCP bassist flea, producer Nigel Godrich on keyboards, and session percussionists Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. The band first played last October without a name (we’ve got much better video of that performance), and when named in the lineup for this year’s Coachella festival, they were billed under the name ????. But it seems that’s all been settled now.
“Hope you like the name,” Yorke wrote on Radiohead’s site. “It seemed bleedin’ obvious.”

I don’t think there’s an Atoms For Peace record on the way, but these songs are pretty great.
Yeah, I’d put money on that one.
Awesoooommmmeeeeeeeee
i really hope the group puts out an album, would be more interesting then a radiohead record i think
gorgeous
FYI, the Daily Mail is a right-wing publication in the UK: hates immigrants, denies climate change, all that jazz. So Thom was being ironic when he said it was dedicated to “the open minded, liberal people of this country”.
My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find many of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for. can you offer guest writers to write content in your case? I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on a few of the subjects you write about here. Again, awesome blog!
