Them Crooked Vultures Plan Another Kill
By Johnny Firecloud
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
If you’re looking for some new material from Them Crooked Vultures, you’re not going to have to wait very long, at least according to bassist John Paul Jones.
In an interview with Stuff.co.nz, the Zeppelin-low-end-turned-Vulture has explained that the band plan to record their second album later this year.
“We’ll do a second album this year,” he told Stuff. “By the end of summer, something like that.”
He added, “We’re all hard workers. In a way we need to do this for ourselves. Once we committed to it we worked as hard as a young band would, put the hours in. It’s got to be good – we’ve got reputations to uphold more than anything else.”
That’s fantastic news to us, but what about all those Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age fans clamoring for some action? Jones promised they’d get back to their respective home bands eventually.
“I haven’t really stolen them – it’s Dave’s baby, it’s his fault,” he said. “They’ll get them back – one day.”
It isn’t hard to guess that the band’s success helped soften the blow of Led Zeppelin’s reunion/tour plans falling through for Jones.
“(Zeppelin fans) have been disappointed a long time – they’re getting used to it… I think they’re enjoying (the Vultures). It doesn’t sound like Led Zeppelin but it’s got a similar sort of vibe. It’s a groovy, exciting rock band.” Damn right it is.
Them Crooked Vultures are set to play at this year’s Coachella Festival.

Wooooooo. Sometimes it is just as simple as a woooo. Now to sort flights for Coachella!
They already have the songs, they just need to tidy them up. Impeccable source. Can’t wait. :)
Great can’t wait !
This is good news. Hope they make a Bonnaroo appearance this year. On a related note there are some ridiculously awesome screen printed show posters still available for the Australia shows here:

I am anxiously waiting for my copies to arrive in the mail
I bet my ass that album is gonna be even better than their first. And that’s saying a lot.
[...] Carnage tour dates rescheduled Them Crooked Vultures recording this summer The Strokes back in the studio Coheed and Cambria releasing new album this April Zooey Deschanel [...]
I hope it is better debut album was great but for me it wasn’t THAT GREAT. But I know it got a lot of love here. Guys any chance you will review new Rob Zombie album? Got it yesterday and I like it a lot…. wonder what do ypu think about it.
I’ve been spinning it and trying to decide if my thoughts are worth publication…
as someone who frequents this site fairly often, I am extremely well versed in peters thoughts on that album.
I’m hard.
imo – reviewing the new zombie record would be an insult to the work you guys do here…”chew it up, spit it out, sick bubblegum!”
need I say more?
yeah and that’s a problem because such lyrics are his style – inspired by horror movies, hardcore and weird. Since White Zombie his lyrics were kept in that style ( and it is fun for me because it’s totally different than other artists doing similar music), so for me criticizing Rob Zombie for that is kind like criticizing Stevie Ray Vaughn that he had played too much blues.
I find Rob Zombie/White Zombie refreshing in metal genre, nobody else writes such music and this new album in my opinion still sounds fresh as he write it with a band, guitars are massive, adding acoustic guitars into the mix, some riffs and solos. Point his that for me lyrics suit this music, image, horror movies samples,
Thank you TCV! This band is so powerful and talented. I hope they come back around and tour before the album is released!! Definitely hard-working guys- they’re only now wrapping up their multi-continental tour… TCV please come back Boston!!! It was the best show I have seen in ages even if the Boston crowd @ House of Blues was kinda stiff! Maybe they can have the Arctic Monkeys be their opening band – damn! This time I am bringing all my friends along; it’s a show every music-head should attend.
Hey would you mind letting me know which web host you’re using? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot quicker then most. Can you suggest a good internet hosting provider at a honest price? Thank you, I appreciate it!
