MTV has officially parted ways with the notion that it has anything to do with music, by dropping the “Music Television” from its logo.
Anecdote time: I once found myself sharing a train platform in Wilmington, Delaware with MTV VJ John Norris. I’m typically not the type to harass random pseudo-celebrities. However, I was feeling particularly snarky that August afternoon. So I walked up to him, and said something to the effect of “Hey. So I was wondering… What does the M stand for?”
He laughed, and said “good question.”
That was ten years ago.

I honestly thought that skwerl had just cropped the logo in some weird way to remove the “Music Television” part and then pasted it on top of a Jersey Shore picture. I thought it was kind of a lazy job. Turns out this is THE ACTUAL LOGO that they’re using. They literally just cut the bottom of their old logo. Beyond lame.
