Aerosmith Scheduled For Public Implosion

In November, we reported on a bit of a dispute between Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. Shortly after, Tyler made an impromptu appearance at one of Perry’s solo gigs, where the two performed Walk This Way. While Tyler claimed he was “not leaving Aerosmith,” after the gig, Perry reminded the press that Tyler’s appearance from out of the blue didn’t change the fact that the duo hadn’t written any music together in 10 years.
Perry went so far as to claim that Paul Rodgers was being considered as a replacement for Tyler, and revealed some details of what had just been a rumor previously: Steven Tyler had auditioned for Led Zeppelin. The auditions fell apart when, as Perry claimed, it became clear that Steven Tyler didn’t really know how to sing any Zeppelin songs.
Yet despite what seems like nothing short of a gory divorce, today it was announced that Aerosmith will headline the second day of the Download Festival in June, with Steven Tyler. The intricacies of how/if Mr. Tyler and Mr. Perry made peace are unknown, but given Perry’s tendency towards saying too much on Twitter, I’m sure anyone who still cares won’t have to wait long for something to chew on.

i thought billy idol replaced him? either way, they’ve been washed up for decades now havent they?
Nobody wants to hear new Aerosmith songs. The only people that want to hear Aerosmith songs at all want to hear the old stuff and their popular songs.
WRONG! A lot of people want to hear Aerosmith new songs, and that’s why it would be cool if it is not one time money cash grab from Tyler and Perry. If Tyler liked to make a record like Perry wants such record would rock. Without outside co-writers, written only by a band, heavy rockin’.
Aerosmith washed up ? Since when ? Maybe considering most recent album but live they are easily among the best live bands, along with Rolling Stones, AC/DC, U2, Pearl Jam.
I know, right? We could be just months away from the next “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing”. I want to land a spaceship on a meteor headed for earth just thinking about it.
Don’t think so Joe isn’t interested in working with outside writers anymore, that’s why he wasn’t happy with Tyler who did want to work with them.
But Aerosmith went downhill since they had hired those songwriters. “Pump” was theirs last great album and still wasn’t as good as pre break up albums.
Love the band, but were they fucking over after Get a Grip. Shit, shit, and then some more came after that record. Can’t write anymore? Need “co-writers” to make you songs? So it’s time to get the fuck out of the spotlight. And poor Ozzy is riding that train also. Next!
I say these two twats each consume an 8 ball and wash it down with a bottle of Red Label. With the toxic twins back in the saddle again, Aerosmith will write some classic jams.
They are still a great live band, regardless of any new music. And to be honest, they were done as far as studio music after Night in the Ruts, which was, to me, at least, their best album.
Maybe I think “Pump” was their last great album but still “Toys in the Attick” , “Get Your Wings” and “Rocks” are hard rock masterpieces. Album like that are not being made in those times considering quality, how many others they influenced etc.
…I liked some songs in Nine Lives and Just Push Play. There, I said it.
my favorites are get your wings and permanent vacation. not so much the not on drugs gay love songs.
