Sometimes we worry that there just aren’t enough truly good bands out there to keep us in business. Yet it’s never long before a band like Turin Brakes reminds us of their worthy existence by releasing a new single.
We first discovered this UK duo in 2003, and were thoroughly impressed with the two albums they had released by then, Optimist and Ether Song. They’ve released two more since that were no less enjoyable, blending classic intricate guitar melodies with modern pop, sounding like a little bit of the best of both genres, touching on everything from America to Elbow to Zero 7.
From their forthcoming album Outbursts comes the brand-new single Apocolips, which will be as fine a starting point for new fans as it is a welcome new delivery for those already familiar.
