“Slash”(Slash),
“Walk This Way” (Aerosmith),
“Hit Hard”(Joey Kramer),
“Does the Noise in my Head Bother You?”(Steven Tyler),
“Tattoos and Tequila”(Vince Neil),
“When We Were Beautiful”(Bon Jovi),
“Scar Tissue”(Anthony Kiedis),
“My Appetite for Destruction”(Steven Adler),
“Kink”(Dave Davies),
“Clapton”(Eric Clapton),
“Ronnie”(Ronnie Wood),
“Life”(Keith Richards),
“Rotten”(Johnny Lydon),
and I’m sure many fucking more that I don’t remember any more.

I would say Slash’s is the best, but that’s mostly because I consider Slash god.
Ozzy’s was hilarious, I highly recommend it. Overall, though, the best autobios are the ones from 80’s bands. Cos they used more heroin and coke.

Heroin Diaries was amazing…..Slash sounded too obviously ghostwritten but was entertaining as well.

Scar Tissue was among the best music-bio books I’ve ever read. I think I’d read Whores if it weren’t so dated.

That’s the problem “Scar Tissue” (forgot about that) “Dirt” , “Heroin Diaries” are honest, brutal and dedicated to fans, and Ozzy book is not so much, it seems that it’s book for people who liked him in his TV show and not for fans of his music. Playing fool all the time doesn’t help, it is written in that tone of being loser who got lucky but in this book it is taken to extreme. Also his most interesting part of life( Black Sabbath years ) is almost ommitted. Book has its moments but it is not enough and you can get impression that this bio is watered down to please masses.

I really hope ozzy 1) remembers the good stuff, ans 2)tells it like it really was and doesn’t hold anything back, especially about the debauchery. I wanna hear firsthand about him snorting a line of ants off the sidewalk…. Too many bios like to gloss over the more hardcore aspects of drug use, sex, and excess (Slash, Eric Clapton)…..

“Scar Tissue” by Anthony Keidis was pretty brutal in its detailed descriptions of his downward spiral, as well as Nikki Sixx’s “Heroin Diaries”, two of the best bios I’ve read. Also check out “Shakey” by Neil Young, “Prisoner of Woodstock” by Dallas Taylor(drummer for CSNY) and “Whores” by Jane’s Addiction. All great reads.

Good read but confusing. I love Ozzy but he could make it better. “Dirt” is much better the best fuckin’ music book I have ever read and “Heroin Diaries” was quite impressive read as well and is published in stunning way. Books by Slash and Ozzy were a little letdown for me maybe because I expected more.
