In New Book, Ozzy Tells What He Is Pretty Sure Is His Life Story

Ozzy Osbourne has finally penned an autobiography, with the help of celeb news reporter cum Iraq war correspondent Chris Ayres.

Ozzy is the star of more than a few of our favorite Rock N’ Roll legends, but we’ve only ever heard them as told by witnesses, rather than the Prince of Darkness himself. With that said, the book opens with a disclaimer that suggests that I Am Ozzy isn’t likely to set every record straighter:

“Other people’s memories of the stuff in this book might not be the same as mine. I ain’t gonna argue with ‘em. Over the past forty years I’ve been loaded on booze, coke, acid, Quaaludes, glue, cough mixture, heroin, Rohypnol, Klonopin, Vicodin, and too many other heavy-duty substances to list in this footnote. On more than a few occasions I was on all of these at the same time. I’m not the fucking Encyclopedia Britannica, put it that way. What you read here is what dribbled out of the jelly I call my brain when I asked it for my life story. Nothing more, nothing less.”

Of course, we’re sold regardless. It may blur the line separating myth from reality even further. The fiction and non-fiction alike may only get stranger and more questionable. But we managed to sneak a quick peek, and we’re sure that for better or worse, accurate or delusional, it’ll be entertaining. By the end of the first chapter, little John Osbourne is already in prison after a series of hilariously pathetic attempts at burglary, not yet eighteen years old.

I Am Ozzy is available now. For those in the LA area, Ozzy will be signing copies at Book Soup at 8818 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood on February 2nd.

Good read but confusing. I love Ozzy but he could make it better. “Dirt” is much better the best fuckin’ music book I have ever read and “Heroin Diaries” was quite impressive read as well and is published in stunning way. Books by Slash and Ozzy were a little letdown for me maybe because I expected more.

I really hope ozzy 1) remembers the good stuff, ans 2)tells it like it really was and doesn’t hold anything back, especially about the debauchery. I wanna hear firsthand about him snorting a line of ants off the sidewalk…. Too many bios like to gloss over the more hardcore aspects of drug use, sex, and excess (Slash, Eric Clapton)…..

“Scar Tissue” by Anthony Keidis was pretty brutal in its detailed descriptions of his downward spiral, as well as Nikki Sixx’s “Heroin Diaries”, two of the best bios I’ve read. Also check out “Shakey” by Neil Young, “Prisoner of Woodstock” by Dallas Taylor(drummer for CSNY) and “Whores” by Jane’s Addiction. All great reads.

i loved the dirt and the heroin diaries. still haven’t gotten to scar tissue or the others. skipping slash’s book. thanks for the recommends.

That’s the problem “Scar Tissue” (forgot about that) “Dirt” , “Heroin Diaries” are honest, brutal and dedicated to fans, and Ozzy book is not so much, it seems that it’s book for people who liked him in his TV show and not for fans of his music. Playing fool all the time doesn’t help, it is written in that tone of being loser who got lucky but in this book it is taken to extreme. Also his most interesting part of life( Black Sabbath years ) is almost ommitted. Book has its moments but it is not enough and you can get impression that this bio is watered down to please masses.

  • Scar Tissue was among the best music-bio books I’ve ever read. I think I’d read Whores if it weren’t so dated.

    Highly recommend Scar Tissue.

OZZY BEST OF THE BEST MUSIC THAT WILL PLAY ON

Heroin Diaries was amazing…..Slash sounded too obviously ghostwritten but was entertaining as well.
