Yesterday, our friends in Portugal. The Man alerted us via Twitter to a new release by a Portland band we have a great mutual appreciation for, The Builders And The Butchers.

With apologies to longtime Antiquiet readers already well aware of this band’s existence, We have to tease you with this spine-tingling clip of Bottom Of The Lake, and recommend the $10 purchase for the very well recorded performance from Mississippi Studios in Portland last March, entitled Where The Roots All Grow. Along with high quality MP3s, you’ll get a QuickTime video of the entire set. If you’re still into the whole plastic discs thing, you can order a CD version for $13, shipping included.

We’re confident the video will be enough to convince you of the merits of this unique, talented band. But you can rest assured that there’s more from whence it came. Where The Roots All Grow features magic performances of the band’s greatest songs from their two albums, including Black Dresses, Red Hands, Devil Town, Vampire Lake, Coal Mine Fall, and Slowed Down Trip To Hell, to name a handful. You can order Where The Roots All Grow directly from the band on their online store. I did. It was easy.

The album closes with When It Rains, from their split with Loch Lomond, a rare cut we’ve posted here.

Very, very cool. I like the energy these guys put out. I’m reminded somehow of CCR……

On a completely unrelated subject, and I hope I’m not scooping you guys, but I was just over at the Austin City Limits site and saw that the TCV episode is gonna air on Sat., Feb 13th!!!!!!!!! Stoked!!!!!

Thats great, thanks for the notice antiquiet…I was thinking the same thing zoopster (ccr influence), love the vibe!

I’ll stick with fellow Portland flannel rockers Blitzen Trapper thank you very much. I saw these guys with Brand New last October, and while not bad, just didn’t grab me. I will say, this does seem to be a solid package if you are a fan.

have you guys heard of beat circus? their album boy from black album is pretty good, and they mine some pretty similar veins

Cool band. The lead singer has a Jello Biafra/Johnny Rotten thing going on with his vocals. Interesting. Original. Moustache.

I saw these guys open for The Heartless Bastards Friday night at the North Star Bar in Philly. They played a great show and had just as many people interested in their show as The Heartless Bastards. I think they might have even been surprised at the support they received.

I’m curious though….. is it bad concert etiquette to turn around and stare at a group of people talking over a bands song? They obviously believed that everyone within earshot of them paid to hear their Smashing Pumpkins story.
