Pearl Jam closed out last month’s Austin City Limits Festival with a mindblowing performance, and beforehand they did a taping for the long-running ACL television show for 320 lucky fans, with the aid of a string quartet and one Mr. Ben Harper. The episode is set to air on PBS this Saturday, Nov. 21. Here’s a taste of what you can expect to find during the show:
“I sometimes wonder how many more ‘firsts’ can there be, but I never dreamed I’d see the day that Pearl Jam would appear on the ACL stage, especially considering they seldom do TV,” said Austin City Limits producer Terry Lickona. “This will go down as one of our all-time classic shows, and one of the best Pearl Jam performances ever captured. There are some musical and emotional highs that gave me goose bumps.”

Oh shit that was good. One of my favorite songs off the new album. That setlist looks pretty cool. I remember you guys mentioning in another article that they did Red Mosquito . I really want to see em do that one.

@zoop – good to meet you (again) last night man. A great experience was made better knowing that you were hearing all this shit for the very first time. As for Red Mosquito – I’ve loved that song since I heard it on a bootleg a year or so before the record came out. I was totally jaded on it for a long time because it started out a lot more *mean*, and I much preferred it that way, but in recent years I’ve grown new ears for it. What they’ve done with it by bringing Ben in is just awesome.

Yeah man, the self imposed blackout was hard, but totally worth it in the end. I was completely blown away. And listening to the CD on the way home for the first time with the live versions still ringing in my ears was the icing on the cake.
@Rory, the only offence I took for the language was for you using the words “Sarah Palin.” Cunt’s ok with me. :)
Glad I missed that ad, though.

Pearl Jam is one of my favorite groups ! I really like the Pearl jam song, Black . Black is also a favorite of mine. I found this really good video of black , check it out here

Spaced last nite and didn’t tape/watch the show. Just checked out Red Mosquito on the ACL website. Fucking great. Gave me chills. Ben Harper should be a permanent member of PJ! :)
