The DJ on 106.7 KROQ in Los Angeles who played the song referenced a Nov. 17 street date for the album, and confirmed a much-rumored show at the Wiltern on the same day. Save your pennies and keep your eyes to the skies…

Great. The day after I go home. Still, I got Boston/Philly/DC, I shouldn’t complain. ;)

  • Lu Galasso says:

Sounds amazing. Almost as good as when I heard it at the Sound Academy in Toronto :P

I’m in love with those guys…

This song sucks worse than my Macintosh support skills

  • Skwerl says:

i hate to have a beef with this track, because it’s my favorite of theirs… but what’s up with the vocals? sounds like they were recorded in an airplane cockpit… otherwise, you know, boners.

  • matt says:

    @Skwerl

That’s Josh Homme doing his best Dave Grohl vocal impersonation

also – this track smells like cabbage

  • zoopster says:

A little poppier than I expected, but that’s what I get for having expectations…… I like it, even though I wanted something heavier. It doesn’t immediately sound like Zep, QOTSA or Nirvana/Foos so that’s a plus I guess. Quirky guitar, I like the vocals. That’s Josh Homme doin his best Josh Homme vocal impersonation, right down to the falsetto crooning.

It’ll keep me goin for a while.

  • Rory says:

I still don’t like it at all.
    .
But the rest of the album will be diabolically brutal. I can’t wait to hear it.

  • Mike says:

the Vox are overdone, but its still a solid track and has me super excited

  • Kevin Lee says:

Great track. Took me about 4 listens to “get it” I imagine this is the carrot on the stick leading the masses straight in to an album of balls to the wall rock.

  • Wolf says:

Rockin’!!! The way rock should be written and played. Anticipating the album like never before! \m/

  • Peter says:

Good track but production is awfull cymbals and vocals WTF? After Chinese Democracy was released I hoped that every record would be like that – no compression at all and you can hear all small things clearly, and that’s bad year passed and great bands still released stuff with flawed production. And talking about CD production I’m not talking about overproduced elements, re-recording etc but how record was mixed. Pure Brillance.

    Liberating!

I think the original clip was a radio rip, hence the bad quality. Not sure if you are referring to the actual production of the song, (which, frankly, is tough to gauge listening to an mp3 clip on the internet) or the low quality of the file itself.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is a different version than was on here yesterday, and it sounds way better.

The Chinese Democracy album, while very good, was, imo, overproduced. Yeah you can hear every little detail, but there’s no grit. This stuff has a more live feel to it and the production is similar to QOTSA’s sound. I don’t think there is a problem with it.

  • Skwerl says:

yeah, we upgraded the file yesterday. i got my hands on a cd, and while the music sounds a little warmer, the vocals still bother me a bit.

  • Kevin Lee says:

    So jealous.

  • Peter says:

zoopster I was refering to compression and mixing when I talked about Chinese Democracy. And any other album has it. It was overproduced but it is different kind of producing. I am talking about how you hear it, other elements which are responsible fot lack of grit – that’s a different story. But CD used no compression that’s why it details are spot on, every band should make CD like that. You can have grit and live feel withour compression, I wonder why bands still compress music , sure it sounds louder but you lose a lot of details along the way/

  • stu says:

I agree with Peter. If this album’s overcompressed it might be one of the biggest musical letdowns in my life

  • Steve says:

great song. Saw them in NY was incredible. Can wait for the album. Finally something exciting for rock music.

  • tng/dharma69 says:

My ears are still recovering from the Rose Bowl but I like the vocals being in the rear. Like it a lot. It’s not like Homme is the greatest current male vocalist and his Pavarotti pipes are being buried, as such a thing would be criminal. The music’s the star here.

  • Big B says:

Brilliant song. Not sure why it is getting lambasted to be honest. Drum intro at the start is cool as, and added with the bass and guitars it has an evil swagger to it. Bass line is sick and from hearing the clips on the internet they will be sick throughout. Its exactly what i expected, classic QOTSA-esque licks, some awesome groghl power-drumming (chorus is ace) and a driving rhythm. I’m very excited about this album indeed. Nov 17th can’t come quick enough

  • Got way more excited over the Mind Eraser clip that was posted, but I still dig the hell out of this jam.
