Idle Warship is a unique three-piece group consisting of world renowned MC Talib Kweli, and two singers that jump between R&B and rock, Res and Graph Nobel. We’ve been following them as individuals, and as a group, for awhile now, and they’ve just released their debut full length, Party Robot.

Idle Warship

Party Robot is credited to Idle Warship and Mick Boogie, and is equal parts Mick Boogie mixtape and Idle Warship studio album. It features new solo tracks from Res and Graph, and a cut by Saul Williams with Kweli, mixed in with a hearty helping of Idle Warship tracks, some new, some that have been floating around on MySpace and blogs for the past year or two, finally all collected in CD quality.

Check out Black Snake Moan. More can be heard in our interview with all three members of the group from earlier in the year, as well as in our review of their outstanding live set at The Roxy.

Best part of this news is that Party Robot is available as a completely free download over at Year Of The Blacksmith. No forms, no emails, just smash and grab. Pick it up and check it out.

Nice and thanks for the download info. Looking forward to the Afro Punk/Saul Williams show at The Roxy in November and kinda of wish IW would drop in.

Man, I love Res. I completely forgot that she existed. She had a song that came out in 02 called Golden Boy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_gkoKnaDc0 , great song. Her whole first album was written by Santi White, aka Santogold, way before Santogold became big.

  • Skwerl says:

yeah man, that first album of hers was so good. girl can sing her ass off.

  • Orsino says:

Its like the only album I know of where rock meets Rnb, yet doesn’t sound forced or deliberated. It bums me out that the album never blew up, yet I’m glad to see that 8 years later she is still at it. Santogold wants to sound like Res, but Santi doesn’t have the same set of pipes.
