The Dead Weather released their debut album earlier this year and have been relentlessly touring behind it, and one would expect that they’d soon take a break to focus on the myriad of other projects each member is involved in. Expectations be damned, Jack White, Alison Mosshart and Co. just dropped a new Dead Weather EP with no advance warning.

The band’s EP is a 9-track mixed-media release which contains songs from the band’s performance at their pop-up store in Los Angeles back in August (the same pop-up store where I won the final spot in the Third Man Golden Ticket contest). Called Live From Third Man West, the EP is now available on iTunes for $7.99. It contains five songs and four videos including their cover of the song Forever My Queen by the metal band Pentagram. It kicks ass.

Continuing with the pop-up store trend, Third Man is set to open its third temporary storefront at London’s Shoreditch Church this Friday, October 30. It’ll only be there for a day, so don’t waste time! The Dead Weather are also set to perform at the mtvU Woodie Awards on December 4.

Additionally, Alison Mosshart has already confirmed that the band has made good progress on their second album, and she’ll head to Nashville this December to help finish it.
