Death Cab Hops On The Teenage Hormones Bandwagon

While the rest of the culture vultures were reveling in last night’s VMAs circus, Death Cab For Cutie was making good on their promise to release their new song Meet Me On The Equinox.
The track was written specifically for the New Moon soundtrack, which said to include Bon Iver, Muse, Band of Skulls and Thom Yorke, among others. It arrives October 20th, but judging by the anticipation of the locust-like swarms of tween girls jonesing for another dose of the strange tingly feelings …down there that Twilight (the first film in the series) so carefully introduced them to, you may be better off opting for a download. Especially when you add the accompanying midlife-crisis moms manning the minivans:
Meanwhile, Death Cab frontman Ben Gibbard has joined Son Volt’s Jay Farrar to record One Fast Move or I’m Gone, an album inspired by Jack Kerouac’s 1962 novel Big Sur. That project is due coming from F-Stop/Atlantic on October 20, with a small-scale tour to coincide.

Sounds a lot like “Touch of Grey” by the Grateful Dead to me.
i really hope thom and company are getting paid maaaaaaaad loot for the soundtrack. it disgusts me that such good bands will contribute to new moon’s soundtrack.
but it’s got vampires, y’all! And naked teenage boys! What band wouldn’t get behind that?
something very disturbing about “twilight moms”…….
Maybe i’m too stoned, or not stoned enough, but I’m totally not hearing anything near to “Touch of Grey” anywhere in this song. Good song though.
I am surprised as well about Thom being involved with this movie…… funny and fittingly ironic especially after my Muse/Stephenie Meyer comment on the Muse thread. Guess Thom likes vampires too.
