The House Of Blues Was Tight Friday Night

So if I wasn’t on house arrest for my unauthorized promotion of Chinese Democracy, I would have tried to head up to the House Of Blues on Friday to see the legendary ZZ Top. They’re currently picking up the pieces of their big tour with Aerosmith, which fell apart after Steven Tyler fell off a stage in South Dakota, cracking his head open and breaking his shoulder.

Unfortunately, I missed a great performance of La Grange- one of my favorite songs to play in both Guitar Hero and real life- featuring my buddy Slash and John Mayer. Luckily, someone in the crowd had some good hardware, and a considerably decent video has made its way online.

The camera may like Slash more… But I’ll be damned if Mayer doesn’t blow him off the stage. Goddamn, that dude can play.

You wouldn’t catch me dead buying a Mayer cd, but I’ll be damned if I wouldn’t listen to him jam until the end of time.

^^Agreed. His music is awful, but I can’t deny he’s a good guitarist, wish his music wasn’t so bad and his voice didn’t sound like he’s gargling ballz. Slash and ZZtop are badass as usual, damn I gotta get myself to a ZZ top show…Steven tyler haha, poor guy.

I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but Mayer just owned Slash. Crap.

Wow. While I think mayer is probably capable of blowing slash away, I’d have to see it to believe it. I’m also in the agreeing-he-is-a-great-guitarist-but-wouldn’t necessarily-buy-one-of-his-albums camp. ZZTop is on my list of artists to see before I die. Wish I’d been at this show.

  • [...] Perry doesn’t have anything better to do since Steven Tyler broke his hip and got cataracts or whatever, but watching him back Katy Perry’s godawful performance of Queen’s We Will Rock You [...]
