Radiohead’s Thom Yorke cares about the planet. He thinks you should care about the planet too. He wants you to show it by signing this stop global warming petition, if you believe in all that red-hot mumbo jumbo.
Personally, the thought of permanent summertime is just about as awesome as a thought can get. I won’t be talked out of my weekly aerosol parties. Besides, polar bears eat people. Do you want a polar bear to eat you? I don’t, so I’m not signing shit. But Thom thinks you should. In a post on Radiohead’s official site, he explains:
an online petition with over a million names.. including President Obama.
currently there is talk of a climate change bill in the US similair to the one we have passed in the UK.
thats a BIG deal.
but i have been reading how the oil industry is investing millions of dollars in a PR campaign against it!
how utterly dumbass is that? how do these people look their children in the eye?
i have now stepped down from todays soapbox. byebye
Thom
In between missions to save the world, Radiohead has also begun work on a new album. Here’s a couple tracks from Thom’s appearance on the BBC2’s Johnathan Ross Show last year, to sweeten the deal for those of you who might be thinking of throwing another tire on the fire.

it’s easy to care about stuff when you’re insanely rich.
interesting viewpoint. care to elaborate?
It’s easy not to care about stuff when you are ignorant.
It’s easy to care about stuff when you are jumping on a bandwagon; isn’t Radiohead a band known for thinking for themselves and not following the herd?
@ Nevets:
other than an EMI representative telling them to change their band name to ‘radiohead’?
ha! true story. however, i give the band credit for knowing when to listen and when not to. “on a friday” is a stupid fucking band name. on the other hand, they knew to ignore their manager when he told them to quit before in rainbows.
hmm, wouldn’t you say that both requests are for the financial benefit of management? debating how on a friday or radiohead affects the music is fucking retarded. both decisions were for the labels financial benefit. the only difference is they are now no longer young yes men. anyways. if thom wants to buy us all 60,000 dollar hybrids be my guest. anyways,, as cool as amnesiac is I don’t get why everyone shoves their noses up this bands ass to this day.
well, in the first case, financial benefit is secondary to marketability. especially marketability circa 1991. before myspace, a band name was often all you had to go on. i don’t think it’s retarded to talk about the value of marketability to the band who wants to get its music into as many ears as possible.
but in the second case, how is the band’s breakup for the financial benefit of management? they’re out a client. and it certainly wasn’t for any label’s benefit; as by then they were unsigned.
as for radiohead’s relevancy… i personally don’t have my nose up their ass… i think kid and amnesiac sucked actually. but they kill live, and they’ve got a bunch of truly great albums. they ain’t my favorite band by any means, but they’re a good one.
@ volvoboy…Of course they have listened to management and others throughout the years – what band has not? What I meant is that Radiohead, generally speaking, has never followed trends; rather, they either created them or tried to refine them somehow…Thom York getting all green smacks of the same desire to be trendy as kids in junior high wanting to fit in by reading Twilight or some other lame, mass marketed BS that is out there!
@ skwerl: financial benefits and marketability in this case, aren’t mutually exclusive and that’s painfully obvious. You think a band named after some stoner’s grandma making jelly is just a bad as on a friday.
@ nevets:
hair boy – the grandma story aint true. think harder about the name Pearl Jam. it’ll come to you.
SEX!!!!!! and it is true
dont understand what this is all about thom but i realy dont wish for some out reach proggram there are other things i wish for like a friend to talk to
