Jack White has gone and delivered the awesome once more- this time in the form of a new song by his new band The Dead Weather. It’s called Treat Me Like Your Mother, and you can listen to it right here:
Mother, which appears to be the second track off The Dead Weather’s upcoming album Horehound, (due July 14th) is available for a free download over at their site (thanks FernandoDante for the heads up!); just punch in an email address and a download link will appear, clickety-click.
White has lined up one of the most formidable sonic Frankensteins- possibly even since Cream- in the combination of Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age, Allison Mosshart of The Kills and “Little” Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs. They’re just getting started, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Horehound is going to blow quite a few minds.
Check out Hang You From The Heavens, which we discussed here:
Jack’s been listed as a drummer thus far in the band, leaving chief vocal duties to Mosshart, but as Treat Me Like Your Mother and these pictures show, the man’s an obsessive multitasker.
The Dead Weather are set to kick off their summer tour in Louiseville, Kentucky on June 11.

I was really excited for this band because I love The Kills and The Raconteurs. Didn’t know what to expect but this is a really great song. Can’t wait to hear the album.
I’ve already got their first 7″ vinyl release, and their second is in the mail. Sidenote: Weird thing happened with the first vinyl when I ordered it. I received it in the mail, and then two weeks later they sent me another one of the same vinyl…for no reason…no charge. Thanks!
Wiltern 8/25, Glass House 8/27… Fuck Yes!
Is it me or does this song kick all kinds of ass? Definitely going to catch them at the Glass House now.
