The Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana and Blur will all be featured on the forthcoming fifth installment of the massively successful ‘Guitar Hero’ game, according to an exclusive announcement from NME. This week Activision had planned on announcing the band lineup in a series of scavenger hunt-like stories; fans who track down all the featured artists can enter a sweepstakes to win five tickets to concerts at a venue of their choice. Cat’s out of the bag, but free tickets are free tickets, no?

Guitar Hero 5

Guitar Hero 5 is expected to be released worldwide this fall (September 1st), and with the latest upgrade of the smash hit game comes a massive wave of new artists to play along with, including The Bronx, The White Stripes, Public Enemy, Mötley Crüe, Queens Of The Stone Age and so much more!

According to information posted on the official Guitar Hero site, the entire setlist will be available for play immediately upon release, and for the first time home rockers will be able to select any combination of instruments- so multiple guitarists, bassists, drummers or vocalists will be able to play at the same time. There’s also a new Play Party Mode, allowing instruments to join and drop out of a song without interrupting or ending the track.

As previously announced, developers at Activision are also working on a DJ Hero spin-off game to launch later this year.
