New great white hope Asher Roth has released a new single, entitled Be By Myself, featuring Cee-Lo Green, of Gnarls Barkley & Goodie Mob.

When we reviewed Asher’s album last month, we were pleasantly surprised to find it worth the rising hype, and picked this track in particular as an outstanding cut.

Cee-Lo’s got a beautiful voice. When applied to the right melody, it can carry a song further than the top of the charts, as Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy defined the summer of 2006. I’m usually pretty bad at predicting shit like this, but I have a feeling this song is going to put Asher Roth on the mainstream map, providing terrestrial radio plays it, and is still relevant.

Who is this guy?! I don’t know but I like this song! I’m going to go find out!…(five minutes later)…THIS is the fuck that sings that song “I Love College”? I HATE that song. Fuck him!

Okay so I went to the website that seems to be the only website for this guy. http://www.asherroth.com. So there’s a cool link that says “Click Here To Get The Album For Free”, I figure this guy ROCKS a bit now…oh, it’s a link to EMusic for a free trial.

  • We’re covering single releases by eminem/mickey avalon hybrids now? You shouldn’t have fallen for this gimmick.

Don’t like the song, the chick is nice, though.

oh relax firecloud, it’s a good song.

Wow, that surprisingly good. Nothing mind blowing, but would be by far the best song I’d hear on the radio this summer.

  • Thank sweet baby Jesus I don’t listen to the radio then. If this is what passes for “good,” I’ll stick to “fucking awesome.”
