Aside from Sally’s Song from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Special Edition Soundtrack in 2006, it has been almost 4 years since we’ve heard from Fiona Apple.
This morning I was lucky enough to come across Apple’s cover of Why Try to Change Me Now, recorded for the That Was Then And This Is Now: A Tribute To Cy Coleman EP.
I know Fiona definitely has a couple of screws loose, but if her reemergence means she’s thinking about recording a new album, I’m prepared for several release date changes and a leak of the inferior first mix. I once heard a rumor that the guy who leaked Chinese Democracy was also responsible for the leak of the Jon Brion version of Extraordinary Machine…
[Editor's Note: That is pure fucking hearsay, woman.]

All I can hear when I listen to this song is “The Nearness of You”. Ugh.
What I love about blogs is that often they trigger an idea in my mind. The moment that happens, I feel as I have to respond with the hope it can be interesting to others. Since there are lots of blogs with distinct points of view, they test your thinking. It’s at these moments when you have valuable insignt others may not have had, together with the blogger himself/herself. I find myself returning to your blogs mainly because you have many great insights and you have been at this a long time, which is very impressive and tells me you know your stuff. Keep triggering imagination in other people!
