Neil Young premiered his new album, Fork In The Road, on MySpace last night, giving fans a streaming peek at what to expect when the record hits whatever shelves are left on April 7th. We’ll get to that action in the next couple days, but Young’s new video deserves an immediate mention, for the simple awesome weirdness of it all.
The video for the single Cough Up The Bucks finds Uncle Neil playing the fat cat CEO in the back of a limo, dressed in a suit & reading the Wall Street Journal, muttering the chorus repeatedly into his cellphone after asking Where did all the money go? I’ll go ahead and state the obvious here: he’s talking about last night’s Wolverine movie leak, right?
All jokes aside, the track seems to be a modern-day cousin of the primal 1990 track Fuckin’ Up, a song Pearl Jam saved from obsolescence by making it a concert highlight over the years. Thematically it’s different, but both serve as interesting personality flares from the old codger. It deserves some credit, at least in the fact that I suddenly give more than a rat’s ass about the new Neil Young record.

Now this looks like an 80s video if I’ve ever seen one… Only thing missing is a Ronald Reagan mask.
wait… weren’t this guys ashes shot out of a cannon in the midwest some time ago? I think it was just after his last live acoustic performance.
That’s the late, great Hunter sir, and I implore you not to besmirch his good name in these woods.
