White Stripes Collides With Hip-Hop… Sounds Better Than It Sounds

Hey everyone, remember mashups?

A crafty fellow by the name of Adrian Champion has followed in the footsteps of Danger Mouse, Minty Fresh Beats (the Jaydiohead guy), and our pal Hench, and completed a (probably illegal) mashup album that blends The White Stripes’ music with that of some of the biggest stars in hip-hop. Naturally, it’s titled Stars & Stripes. And it is available in its entirety as a free download here.

Thanks to Current Music for the heads-up via Twitter. Adrian Champion himself is there too.

i listened to it and it’s just gross. There’s like a “shout-out” to himself at the beginning of EVERY SONG. unlistenable.

The concept is great, but it sounds from that clip like the Stripes are overshadowed by the raps and beats. Worth giving it a full listen though. Hard to beat The Grey Album as far as mashups go.
