The band once known as the Omar Rodríguez-López Group has a new name. Moving forward they will be known as Bosnian Rainbows. To celebrate the re-branding the group has announced dates for a February 2013 tour.

The trek kicks off the day after Valentine’s Day in Atlanta Georgia. From there it is off to wonderful winter destinations including Detroit, Toronto and Chicago. The final date of the tour will be February 28th in a city still to be determined.

Before you decide to be a smart ass and scream out for information on The Mars Volta or At The Drive-In, Mr. Rodríguez-López has released the following statement:

Cool… hopefully it doesn’t suck as many dicks as EVERYTHING MARS VOLTA DID SINCE AMPUTECTURE. What a fucking hollow shell of gayness that band turned into. I blame Cedric.

Here’s a smart ass cry for information; When is TMV gonna give it up? When ‘album bands’ start having albums with only a few good songs on ‘em, good listeners get bored.

A great big “PLEASE STOP!” to you, Mars Volta.

From what I have hear TMV are on ‘hiatus’. Basically TMV have sucked since losing Jon Theodore. Thomas Pridgen is a great drummer but didn’t fit in with this band, played over top of them instead. The latest guy, who is in the Bosnian Rainbows too, doesn’t have the chops and has an electronica background.

In other words … bring back Theodore.

  3. James says:

Theodore was the original so everyone gets compared to him. Pridgen definitely overplayed and was a awkward fit. I like Parks on the most recent TMV record though. As far as his chops listen to the astroid power-up! album google plex.

Also there are tons of videos of Bosnian Rainbows playing from the last few months. This isn’t exactly “news”.

So who’s in the group this time? Any Frusciante involvement?

    • James says:

No Frusciante. It’s Omar, Deantoni from the Volta, Nicci Kasper who plays a lot with Deantoni and Teri from Le Butcherettes.
