Trent Reznor to Guest on New Queens Of The Stone Age Album

Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age, Music

Taking part in Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” feature today was Nine Inch Nails / How To Destroy Angels mastermind Trent Reznor. While he mostly focused on answering questions by users regarding HTDA and past projects, one surprising answer got us particularly excited:

“Q: Aside from destroy angel’s new EP, what’s next for you?

A: A number of things. Tweaking some things for the HTDA full LP (coming in Spring), helping Josh out on a new QOTSA track, working with Roy, starting rehearsals for two bands.”

So, there you have it. Reznor and Homme join forces again.

“Wait, again?” you ask? Yes; Reznor guested on the title track to the band’s last album, Era Vulgaris, though it wasn’t included on the official release. Do your homework, kids. Listen to the track below, and read our interview with Josh Homme wherein he discusses working on the track with Trent, why it’s not included on the album, and breaks down some details on the song Homme sang on for NIN’s Year Zero which was never released.

Also, Reznor’s comment about rehearsals for two bands might be more than enough fodder to comments that Nine Inch Nails are set to make a comeback next year… possibly at Coachella?

Also, in case you didn’t hear, Queens have a familiar face returning to the drum kit for their almost-completed new album: Dave Grohl.

    This awesome news!!
….except for the Coachella thing. That part scares me a little. NIN doesn’t really seem to fit the mold for Coachella-esque bands. Too much indie-emo-EDM acts there that NIN would stick out like a sore thumb. Guess they couldn’t come up w/enough cash to bribe The Smiths into reuniting, so they’ll have Trent fill the void?
Now if QOTSA also are on the bill, then we’re looking at the makings of a worthy lineup!
I’d fly cross-country to see that.

You are kidding right? I ask because over the past few years Coheed and Cambria, Faith No More, Mastodon and the Dillinger Escape Plan have all performed at Coachella. So why wouldn’t the band who headlined in 2005 fit in?

Coachella always has a few heavy acts. Both NIN and QOTSA have played before…as well as Them Crooked Vultures in 2010.

Never mind that in the 3 years I’ve been there I’ve seen bands like One Day As A Lion, Refused, At The Drive-In, Arctic Monkeys, Baroness, The Hives, Death From Above 1979, Jimmy Eat World, Flogging Molly, Buzzcocks, Aquabats, Them Crooked Vultures, and Faith No More.

Both NIN and QOTSA would be a welcome fit on any Coachella lineup. Daft Punk too if that rumor ever turns out to be true.

NIN performed at Coachella in 2005. They did stick out. It was still pretty good.

Took (insisted) my ” Aerosmith- lovin” husband accompany me to see NIN perform live a few years back; he emerged from the show with that wild look in his eyes that said someone had just jacked his head open with a Swiss Army knife ( like his mind was a can of beans)…turn on,tune in..
