Lists: Various Artists
For the first Bootleg Roundup of 2013, it seemed like a great idea to share five fan filmed clips from various New Year’s Eve concerts. Yet as we hit YouTube, it quickly became obvious that a majority of the footage from the first few minutes of 2013 was filmed by highly intoxicated individuals. So instead you will have to settle for three New Year’s Eve videos and two tasty gems from the days leading up to the last big bash of 2012.
We start our journey off right here in Los Angeles where Primus warmed up for a two night New Year’s run at the Warfield in San Francisco with a rowdy night at the Wiltern. In addition to two tasty sets filled with 3D visuals, Les, Ler and Jay found time to throw in a Black Sabbath cover. In the event that is not enough to fuel your Primus fix, you can click here to watch grainy footage of the band’s New Year’s costume contest. Spoiler Alert – the winner gets a George Foreman grill.
Heading east, The Black Keys closed out a very successful 2012 with a two night stand in Las Vegas. Once again with a serious lack of usable footage from the final night of the year, we share this great clip of the band performing one of the strongest tracks from El Camino. Enjoy Little Black Submarines down below.
It wouldn’t be a New Year’s recap without a little Auld Lang Syne action. Having already shared with you Phish performing the classic with midgets and golf carts earlier this week, for the Roundup we will share the version The Mighty Mighty Bosstones performed in their hometown of Boston.
Jane’s Addiction didn’t let superstorm Sandy stop them from rocking New Jersey on the final day of the year. Perry, Dave and the rest of the band flipped the calendar from 2012 to 2013 the way all of us would want to celebrate the milestone. They did it with Whores.
Clearly Boston was the place to be as the clock hit midnight on Monday night/Tuesday morning. In addition to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, My Morning Jacket picked the capital of the commonwealth known as Massachusetts to ring in 2013. Watch below as the band rocks the very appropriate One Big Holiday to celebrate a brand new year.
