We here at Antiquiet have had our fair share of trouble and then some, but there’s one thing I’m fucking certain of. The new Hilary Duff video is hands-down, without a doubt, seriously infringing the shit out of some copyrights:

I think what pisses me off the most about this is that Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic claimed a co-writing credit on the track, for the music- which is nothing more than Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus; verse for verse, chorus for chorus. Even Hilary’s hook only changes one word from the original.

Question: How does one add to the humiliation of being in a band like this?

Answer: By inviting Avril Lavigne onstage at one of their shows to impersonate Joan Jett, of all fucking people. That’s exactly what 80’s metal parody band Steel Panther (formerly known as Metal Skool) did Monday night when they pulled Miss Complicated onstage for a super-short, brutally bad rendition of I Love Rock N’ Roll. Johnny occasionally posts silly videos from Saturday Night Live, as he’s one of like, a dozen people left on the planet that still watch it regularly. They’re never funny, but Friday night I was out drinking absinthe in Hollywood Cemetery with Jeremy from Mongo Nation, and he was telling me about a great Andy Samberg skit that aired last week, where he talked to animals as Mark Wahlberg. It sounded pretty fucking hilarious.

I was amazed to find the actual clip as funny sober as Jeremy’s re-enactment was while tripping balls on glowing booze that tasted like cat piss.

I wasn’t going to comment on the new Britney Spears video, despite the remarkable decision to debut it on 20/20 (of all places) on Friday. Maura over at Idolator had already said everything I was thinking about the stunt, while the rest of my thoughts on Britney ‘08 were thoroughly aired in my VMAs critique. Besides, I’m not exactly a big fan, and she’s pretty low on the list of artists in need of exposure here.

But look, it’s a holiday weekend, which means all of you are home from work, masturbating salubriously. And holy fucking shit, in this new video, Britney Spears is hotter and nakeder than I’ve ever seen her. So here’s a relatively high-quality rip of the uncensored director’s cut, and I think you’ll agree that it’s for damn sure more of a comeback than those three souvenir moon men that even Britney admits weren’t earned.

Found a message from Trent Reznor in my inbox this morning. You may have, too. On a short break from Nine Inch Nails’ current Lights In The Sky tour, he put together a survey to find out more about the habits and methods of his audience, undoubtedly to fine tune his communication and marketing tactics.

Since only self-absorbed sociopaths like myself would spend the ten minutes or so it would take to answer all the questions, Trent offered a video performance of 1,000,000 from their recent show at Red Rocks in Colorado as incentive.

No copyright infringement here, kids. Trent’s got no illusions of keeping it exclusive. In fact, he’s upping the ante to make it worth your time…
