On November 29 in North America and December 5 internationally, EMI Music will launch an extensive campaign honoring the legacy of the Smashing Pumpkins by reissuing the iconic alternative band’s first two albums – Gish and Siamese Dream – in CD, deluxe 2CD/DVD, vinyl LP and  digital configurations.

Both albums, each with bonus content and special features that were curated from the band’s archives by frontman and founding member Billy Corgan, have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig.

The set includes:

• Original Album Remastered With Reimagined Cover Art
• 17 Previously Unreleased or Alternative Versions of Siamese Dream Era Songs
• Previously Unreleased, Full Length DVD From The Metro 1993
• 13 Postcards Featuring Original Album Collages
• 24 Page Booklet Featuring Complete Lyrics, Unpublished Personal Photos, Liner Notes by David Wild, and Track-by-Track Annotations by Billy Corgan

With a campaign aimed at unreleased music from the archives, a wave of collectors’ box sets and remastered studio recordings are being launched, the harbingers of the psychedelic sound accompaniments of our youth are looking to saturate the music-buying public once again. A comprehensive release schedule is planned, encompassing CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, SACD, an array of digital formats, iPhone Apps and a brand-new single-album ‘Best Of’ collection.

The legendary band, who are still among the most successful and iconic musical acts of all time, recently signed an agreement with EMI which has allowed the development of a multi-format program of packages.

The planned reissue releases, under the banner Why Pink Floyd?, are designed to appeal to a wide cross section of their fans. Super-deluxe box sets will cater to dedicated fans, allowing them to immerse themselves in multi-disc sets, containing alternate takes, unreleased tracks, restored live concert screen films and a live recording of the legendary The Dark Side Of The Moon performance at Wembley in 1974.

A series of different listening experiences have been specially created for this release: in addition to remastered CD’s called Discovery and the Immersion CD / DVD / Blu-ray / memorabilia box sets will be a series of Experience Editions – coupling one classic album with a further disc of related content from that album to offer a deeper listening experience.

Roger Faxon, CEO of EMI Group, said, “This is a unique collaboration between EMI and one of the most creative and influential bands in history. We have worked together for more than a year on this programme which incorporates all the elements that have made Pink Floyd one of the most inspiring forces in modern music. Why Pink Floyd? The Portland band’s critically-acclaimed recent offering is, as frontman Colin Meloy puts it, “an exercise in restraint,” abandoning previous English traditions of influence in favor of an influence lineage more in line with Neil Young and The Byrds.
