What Were YOU Doing At 20 Years Old?

Nine Inch Nails just announced that drummer Ilan Rubin of Lostprophets will replace Josh Freese behind the kit in 2009. Freese recently announced his plans to leave the group.
The guy’s 20 years old. Jesus. I shudder, thinking of the bullshit I was up to at 20.
Trent Reznor had the following to say:
“With great pride and excitement I announce the addition of Ilan Rubin to the lineup beginning next year. I had the chance to see Ilan playing his ass off at Reading and Leeds a couple summers ago and he blew me away. We recently invited him out to rehearse with us and he blew US away- the perfect guy to pick up the sticks after Josh leaves us at the end of the year. Stay tuned for some 2009 tour announcements soon.”
Rubin’s releasing a solo album this Tuesday, and he’s apparently staying with Lostprophets, who have an album due out next year.

Understatement: 2009 is gonna be fucking insane for this kid.

It has been reported on the Lostprophets’ boards that Ilan will, in fact, be leaving the prophets after finishing recording the latest album. He is actually helping them find a replacement. What a guy!
