Now that a trailer has arrived along with an official website, we’re picking our jaws off the floor as the contributing names and faces roll across the frame: Trent Reznor, Joshua Homme, Mick Fleetwood, Tom Petty, Lars Ulrich, Krist Novoselic, Alain Johannes, Chris Goss, Cheap Trick, Corey Taylor, Stephen Pearcy and many, many more.

“When Sound City closed last year it was a very sad day,” Dave recently explained. “That place was like a church. The list of people that recorded there is like a virtual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We recorded Nevermind there back in 1991. That funky old place had the best drum room in the world. The drum sound at the beginning of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit?’ That’s Sound City. I decided to make a film about that feeling when you put five guys in a room, hit ‘record’ and the hair on the back of your neck stands up. Expect some epic jam sessions.”

We’ll keep you posted on screening and further involvement details for the Sound City film project as they arise – this doesn’t seem like something any of us are going to want to miss.

Meanwhile, Grohl and his Foo Fighters are nominated for six Grammy awards, including Album of The Year for Wasting Light. Dave announced on the Foos’ official blog that he has already started compiling ideas for new Foos material, as well. He wrote: “We’re not finished yet. There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean if you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our eighth studio album… well.”

The clip for the track, which hit No. 1 on both the Rap Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts on Billboard, feature footage from the duo’s Los Angeles stop on their Watch the Throne Tour from this winter, where they played the song a staggering ten times in a row. Jay and Kanye are announced via block letters and live vocals from the Los Angeles date’s encore performance.

“Y’all ready to leave? Well, ‘Ye not ready to leave!” Jay shouts.

“And Jay not ready to leave!” Kanye crows in response.

“So only one thing left to do! Again! Let’s go! Let’s go, let’s go!”

Judging from the mix of live sound and performance footage, it’s clear that there was a specific vision in mind that, audience be damned, the pair were determined to see through to fruition.

“['Niggas In Paris'] was a joint that I did at the crib” Hit-Boy told XXLMag.com in August. “They were in Paris, and I didn’t get to actually attend those sessions out there, but I just got a hit-up on e-mail saying, ‘Yo, we need the files to this beat,’ and it turned out to be ‘Niggas in Paris.’ [It] is just a high-energy record. It’s gonna be played in the club, I feel. It’s something that can be played on the radio. It’s one of those joints that get you out your seat for sure. It’s about ballin’ man! It’s like real stunt-tastic. Every time I hear those dudes rap on my beats, I’m still in awe. I’m a fan. These are really two dudes that I looked up to the most out of any artist, pretty much. It’s just surreal.”

If Jay-Z’s comments earlier this year are to be believed, there’s a solid chance we’ll be seeing a sequel to Watch The Throne in 2012 as well. We’ll keep you posted on developments.

By the sound of things, we’ll certainly have a strange beast on our hands when Noctourniquet arrives. Rather than the hyper-kaleidoscopic Latin math-funk explosions we’re used to, on Malkin a seething dream unfolds over squelching, drunken-swagger guitars. The real thing can’t come soon enough.

Pre-order the single at Amazon, and try not to scream for the new songs when At The Drive-In kicks back into gear at Coachella this year.

Chi can now move his leg when instructed and vocalize through basic sounds, as well as responding to basic commands.

The 60mph crash which Cheng was involved in left him battered and in critical condition, requiring intensive, life-threatening surgery. His family’s insurance company cut off coverage early in treatment, leaving them with little recourse to cover mounting medical costs. In addition to various benefit shows and massive showings of support from friends and fans around the world, a website has been setup – OneLoveForChi – so well-wishers can check on his progress and donate to his recovery.

The song is considerably more upbeat than Love Interruption, the first song off the former White Stripes frontman’s debut solo outing, Blunderbuss. You can listen to that track here. Produced by White and recorded at his own Third Man Studio in Nashville, the album has been described by White as “an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

A 7″ of the single featuring Machine Gun Silhouette and Love Interruption is available today (February 7) at Third Man Records. White has also announced plans to headline the 2012 Sasquatch and Hangout Music festivals, in addition to select solo dates. Look for a predicted full tour announcement soon.

The world’s biggest metal group, who just celebrated 30 years as a band with a blowout set of guest-heavy shows, will headline both nights of the festival, and will perform their legendary Black album in its entirety on one of the two nights. This will mark the first time that the band has ever performed the album in the United States. The band will also play Ride The Lightning in its entirety, which is considerably more awesome across the board.

Nearly two dozen artists are on the bill, including Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, The Gaslight Anthem, Cage The Elephant, Fucked Up, Best Coast, Hot Snakes, Titus Andronicus, Gary Clark Jr., Lucero, Roky Erickson, The Black Angels, The Sword, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Liturgy. More bands will be announced soon.

Presale tickets for Met Club fan club members go on sale Wednesday (February  at 10:00 am ET and will remain on sale through Friday (February 10) at 10:00 pm ET. General admission tickets for the two-day festival will be priced at $125 and Ultra Passes (including front of  stage viewing area access, exclusive lounge access, and more) will be priced at $225.

Public tickets go on sale Saturday (February 11) at 10:00 am on the festival’s official site. Early bird tickets will be priced at $150 and advance tickets will be priced at $175. VIP passes and travel packages will be announced Saturday.

The band mentioned that they’re looking forward to being an integral part of the festival experience, rather than just a player on the bill. What that means in terms of the fest’s overall atmosphere remains to be seen, but it’s going to be one exciting June in Jersey for Metallica fans…

White dropped the news of his participation a few days ago, but the newly-announced details set White and Matthews as main-stage headliners, with a third act joining the headliner ranks soon.

According to organizers, other confirmed artists include Steve Winwood, Chris Cornell, STS9, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Randy Newman, Yelawolf, Mavis Staples, the String Cheese Incident, G. Love & Special Sauce, Skrillex, Mac Miller, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Paul Oakenfold, Dr. Dog, Dawes, M. Ward, Coheed & Cambria, Switchfoot, Julian Marley, Cage the Elephant, Zed’s Dead, Sphongle, Young the Giant, Gary Clark Jr., Rebelution, Allen Stone, Big Freedia, The Devil Makes Three, Futurebirds, Hey Rosetta!, Sleeper Agent, The Lumineers, Archnemesis, Tribal Seeds, Rich Aucoin, Jamie Bergeron and Dispatch.

The balance of style and talent is wide and diverse, with jam bands playing alongside more aggressive rock bands, and rappers and electronica acts vying for attention. The Flaming Lips will throw a curve ball at the fest this year, by playing Pink Floyd’s timeless album The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. according to today’s announcement.

In the lineup announcement, organizers promised “more room for amenities and the comfort of fans, with capacity capped at last year’s limit of 35,000 attendees per day, but with a considerable amount of new space added to the festival grounds.” The festival will feature four stages, according to the announcement, including two main stages on the beach and an air-conditioned dance tent. A children’s area will again be featured, with performers to be announced later.

The 2012 Hangout Music Fest will take place May 18-20 on the beach at the foot of Ala. 59 in Gulf Shores. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday at www.hangoutmusicfest.com/tickets. Basic weekend passes will start at $194, eventually rising to $209. VIP passes start at $749, with Super VIP passes going for $1,249. Top-tier “Big Kahuna” tickets, which include access to the artists’ compound and other elite perks, are $2,500.

Directed by Reid Long, the expertly-shot Gold video opens with street scenes shot in downtown Manhattan, and features exciting footage of their massive live crowds, as well as a few on-the-road moments – including a bit of the famed van on the cover of the album.

The Black Keys are making the first stretch of 2012 their bitch by hitting the road with Arctic Monkeys for a stateside tour. Check out dates and more here.

The dreamy acoustic guitar-shuffle leads the track, from Ward’s follow-up to 2009’s Hold Time. His thoughts on crafting an album this time around: “Between now and when I made ‘Hold Time’ there has been a lot of travelling which requires a lot of reckoning with what to leave behind and what to carry – material and otherwise – and thinking about what I want versus what I need, creatively and otherwise. I wanted to get a reflection of that on the album.”

Joel Trussell, the same director responsible for the video for Ward’s Chinese Translation clip, is responsible for the visuals here. Job well done, and nice touch on the fish swimming up the waterfall.
